TTF has become a Social Enterprise

What is a Social Enterprise?

Social enterprises are organisations that are looking to change the world for the better. Unlike traditional businesses, they have a defined social purpose, which is the formal, primary objective of the organisation.

We believe that becoming Social Enterprise is a good fit for us because our purpose is to drive positive change within the financial services sector.

We remain open to suggestion about the best way to become a Social Enterprise and through which body we should seek accreditation.

The purpose of this web page is to provide an opportunity for all our members to understand our intentions and invite feedback.

Who are Social Enterprise UK?
We became a Social Enterprise through Social Enterprise UK. Social Enterprise UK is a community interest company founded in April 2002. It functions as the national membership and campaigning body for the social enterprise movement in Britain. They seem to be a highly credible organisation through which to make the transition to becoming a Social Enterprise. Whilst they are UK-centric, they have international connections around the world, which suits our international reach.

Who are Purposely?

Purposely is an organisation that helps companies to define their purpose.

They believe, as we do, in the power of purpose.

In particular, Purposely is for organisations that want to formally embed their purpose into their legal structure; and that’s exactly what we want to do. The Transparency Task Force has always operated in a highly mission-led way, we have always been very purposeful. However, by formally embedding our purpose into our legal structure we are taking another important step towards realising our vision, which is:

“To build a large, influential and highly respected international institution that is dedicated to ensuring consumers are treated fairly by the financial services sector.”

Purposely have tools that guide the drafting (or in our case the redrafting) of an organisation’s Articles of Association i.e. its formal, legal purpose.

We have used their tools to help define our Purpose; it has been a very useful process to follow.

Our newly-refined purpose is reflected in our proposed new Articles of Association.
