This session will explore practical tips, tools, and strategies for individuals representing themselves in court or at formal hearings such as Tribunals. It’s designed to support litigants in person with insights on preparation, presentation and navigating the legal process with confidence.
Our key speak speaker is John Barwell.
John is the founder of Legal Lens, an advocacy initiative focused on supporting Litigants in Person (LiPs), challenging systemic legal failings, and exposing regulatory misconduct within the UK justice system. With postgraduate degrees from the University of Manchester and a background in employment law, whistleblowing, and judicial accountability, John provides strategic case support, drafts robust submissions, and leads investigative journalism on legal corruption. His work integrates AI with legal advocacy, aiming to make justice more accessible, transparent, and accountable.
John will talk about the challenges faced by litigants in person across civil, employment and family courts, including common procedural pitfalls and practical strategies to overcome them. He’ll share tools for effective case management, tips on structuring evidence and narrative, ways to identify judicial bias, and introduce supportive tech like Legal Lens RAG Flow.
