Why You Should Attend...

This informative session provides a practical overview of UK consumer protection law and the rights that cannot be excluded by traders, regardless of any contractual terms. Participants will learn how the Consumer Rights Act 2015 protects consumers when purchasing goods, services, and digital content, including rights relating to satisfactory quality, fitness for purpose, accurate descriptions, and services carried out with reasonable care and skill.

The event will explain key consumer remedies, including refunds, repairs, replacements, and price reductions, as well as the important time limits that apply when making a claim. It will also cover protections when buying from overseas suppliers who market to UK consumers, and the legal options available where disputes cannot be resolved directly with a trader.

In addition, the session will examine Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974, outlining how consumers may be able to recover losses through credit card providers and finance companies. Alternative routes such as chargeback claims, court action, and referrals to Trading Standards will also be discussed.

Ideal for consumers, community groups, and anyone wishing to better understand their legal rights when purchasing goods and services, this session offers practical guidance on resolving disputes and ensuring traders comply with UK consumer protection legislation.
