The BBC’s Steve Brodie and his colleagues including Emily Buchanan did a first class job bringing into the mainstream some of the many shenanigans that Lloyds Bank have been involved with over the years.
Their superb BBC Panorama documentary was broadcast on Monday.
This is how it was described:
For 15 years, reporter Steve Brodie has been following the cases of dozens of entrepreneurs who say Lloyds Bank failed their businesses and ruined their lives.
Some Lloyds customers have made criminal complaints to the police about their former bank, but none have resulted in a full investigation. Lloyds says it has always worked to support business customers who got into difficulties following the financial crash.
Now Panorama reveals new documents from inside the bank as well as whistleblower evidence which raises serious questions about the way the bank treated some of its customers.
It was entitled:
“Did Lloyds Fail My Business” and is available on iPlayer here.
The programme pulled back the curtain on Lloyds Bank’s treatment of small business customers after the 2008 financial crash – but it didn’t tell the whole story, because it simply couldn’t, for all kinds of reasons.
Nevertheless it was a great piece of investigative journalism, and we’re all very grateful for it.
TTF’s event on 29th April will cover important issues the BBC couldn’t, and it’s going to be a ‘must watch’ for anybody interested in malpractice, malfeasance, misconduct, mis-selling and even outright fraud by Lloyds/other banks, particularly their victims.
But of course we will only be covering matters supported by hard evidence. Even so, there is a long list of shenanigans we can select from, as you will see.
Don’t miss this!
Here's the programme so far...
